Widmer LIPACTIN® Gel
LIPACTIN® Gel is an antiviral agent for external use on the skin.It is used to treat herpes cold sores (herpes labialis) and the associated symptoms such as itching, swelling and a feeling of tension.No prescription is required for this product.
What is herpes?
Herpes typically manifests itself as blisters on the skin or mucous membrane that are filled with virus-containing fluid.Tension, itching or burning may occur before the outbreak.
How does herpes develop and what are the possible trigger factors?
The initial infection with the herpes simplex virus usually occurs in the first few years of life.The virus remains in the body for life and can break out again and again.Triggers can include strong sunlight, fever, hormonal changes, stress or close physical contact.
How does LIPACTIN® Gel work?
LIPACTIN® Gel contains the active ingredients heparin sodium and zinc sulfate heptahydrate.This combination blocks the spread of the herpes virus and relieves symptoms.
Treatment and prevention
Treatment should begin at the first signs of infection, such as itching, tenderness, or blisters.The gel should be applied thinly to the affected areas 3 to 6 times a day.Treatment should continue until symptoms disappear, but not longer than 7 to 10 days.
Area of application
LIPACTIN® Gel is used to treat infections of the skin and mucous membranes with the herpes simplex virus, especially herpes cold sores and genital herpes.It also helps with the early symptoms of these infections such as itching, tenderness and swelling.

1 g gel contains 175 IU heparin sodium and 5 mg zinc sulfate-7-water.In addition, it contains the excipients glycerin 85%, phenoxyethanol, polysobate 60, polysorbate 80, sodium carboxymethylcellulose and purified water.
Contraindications
LIPACTIN® Gel must not be used if you are allergic to one of the active ingredients or excipients, in patients with a severely weakened immune system and in children under 6 years of age.
Dosage
The gel should be applied thinly to the affected areas 3 to 6 times a day.
Intake
Apply the gel in a thin layer to the affected areas.
Patient information
In general, one treatment of up to 14 days is sufficient.If symptoms do not improve or worsen after 10 days, a doctor should be consulted.
Pregnancy
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, medication should only be taken after consultation with a doctor or pharmacist.If you have herpes on your genitals during pregnancy, you should consult a gynecologist.
Notes
The gel must not be used on the eyes.Please do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack.
