How is the product taken correctly?

What is the correct intake for infants and children?

Elotrans can also be used in children and infants to quickly replenish fluid loss.It is then also recommended to stop eating all foods beforehand, with the exception of breast milk. Infants who are fed with breast milk can continue to be breastfed in parallel with the administration of the product, depending on their individual needs.Ideally, the medication is taken before breastfeeding.It may be useful to divide the contents of the bag into smaller portions or to feed the solution by the spoonful. Contraindications

Elotrans must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to any of the components of the preparation, suffer from acute and chronic impairment of kidney function, have insatiable vomiting, have clouding of consciousness or shock due to severe dehydration, suffer from a disorder of the acid-base balance with hypoacidification of the blood or have disorders of carbohydrate absorption from the intestine.Treatment with Elotrans is not indicated if the absorption of the ingested fluid from the gastrointestinal tract into the blood is not possible or only partially possible, for example in the case of acute intestinal obstruction.

Dosage

Always take Elotrans exactly as directed.The dosage depends on the severity of your diarrheal illness.The preparation is intended to replace the fluid losses that occur with diarrhea.Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is: Infants and young children 3 to 5 sachets in 24 hours, children 1 sachet after each bowel movement, adults 1 to 2 sachets after each bowel movement.This information is only a guideline.In individual cases, both a higher and a lower dosage may be necessary.Please ask your doctor about this if you are unsure.At the beginning of treatment, higher doses can be used to quickly and completely compensate for fluid losses.

Intake

To be taken after dissolving in drinking water.If drinking water is not available, freshly boiled and cooled water can also be used.Dissolve the contents of one sachet of the preparation in 200 ml of liquid.The amount of liquid in which 1 sachet of the preparation should be dissolved must be strictly adhered to, otherwise the optimal composition of salts, sugar and liquid will not be achieved and disruptions to the salt balance in the body could be caused.Use the finished solution immediately.Do not save any remaining solution.Do not boil the medicine!If nausea and/or vomiting occurs at the same time, small amounts of 5-10 ml of drinking solution are given at intervals of 5-10 minutes and the amount is increased depending on the patient's state of health until the required dose has been reached.If you have diarrhea, all food should be stopped before starting treatment with the product.This also applies to milk, with the exception of breast milk.Infants fed with breast milk will continue to be breastfed as needed from the start of treatment parallel to the administration of the product.The required amount of the medicine is administered before a breastfeeding meal.If an infant does not drink the offered portion in one go, the drinking solution should be fed by the spoonful or in small portions until the recommended amount is reached.Infants who are not breastfed initially only receive the solution of the preparation (feeding break for approx. 6 hours, also avoidance of bottle milk).Food diluted with water is then given.After the symptoms have subsided (generally after 24 to 48 hours), you can usually gradually return to normal food.After treatment with the product has ended, children will be given their usual solid food again.However, in individual cases this can also happen earlier.
