Contraindications

Oralpädon® must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to any of the components, suffer from acute and chronic impairment of kidney function, have insatiable vomiting, have clouding of consciousness or shock due to severe dehydration, suffer from a disorder of the acid-base balance with hypoacidification of the blood, or have disorders of carbohydrate absorption from the intestine.

Treatment is not indicated if absorption of the ingested fluid from the gastrointestinal tract into the blood is not possible or only possible in part, e.g. in the case of acute intestinal obstruction.

Dosage

The recommended use for Oralpädon® 240 apple-banana electrolyte powder is as follows:

Infants and young children: 3-5 sachets in 24 hours, corresponding to one to one and a half times the daily drinking amount.Children: 1 sachet after each bowel movement.Adults: 1-2 sachets after each bowel movement.

Recommended consumption: Dissolve 1 bag of Oralpädon® in 200 ml of drinking water and drink it.If drinking water is not available, freshly boiled and cooled water can also be used.The amount of liquid in which 1 sachet of Oralpädon® should be dissolved must be strictly adhered to, otherwise the optimal composition of salts, sugar and liquid will not be achieved and disturbances to the salt balance in the body could be caused.The solution should only be prepared immediately before taking it.Do not use unused solution after 1 hour at room temperature.If stored in the refrigerator, it will last for a maximum of 24 hours.Do not boil the prepared solution!If nausea or vomiting occurs at the same time, Oralpädon® should be drunk in small sips until the required dose has been reached.

Duration of use: Children and adults take Oralpädon® until the diarrhea subsides, but no more than 36 hours.If the diarrhea lasts longer, you should see your doctor again.The duration of the use of Oralpädon® in infants and small children is determined by the attending physician.It is usually 6-12 hours and should not exceed 24 hours.

Intake

1 Sachet is dissolved in 200 ml of drinking water and drunk.If drinking water is not available, freshly boiled and cooled water can also be used. If you have diarrhea, all food should be stopped before starting treatment with the medicine.This also applies to milk, with the exception of breast milk.Infants fed with breast milk will continue to be breastfed as needed from the start of treatment, parallel to the administration of the drug.The required amount of the medicine is administered before a breastfeeding meal.If an infant does not drink the offered portion in one go, the drinking solution should be fed by the spoonful or in small portions until the recommended amount is reached.

Infants who are not breastfed initially only receive the solution with the medicine (feeding break for approx. 6 hours, also avoidance of bottle milk).Food diluted with water is then given.After the symptoms have subsided (generally after 24 to 48 hours), you can usually gradually return to normal food.After treatment has ended, children will be given their usual solid food again.However, in individual cases this can also happen earlier.

Make sure you drink enough fluids alongside your therapy!Since any diarrhea can be a sign of a serious illness, if it lasts for a long time and/or if your general health is impaired, you should consult a doctor immediately.In patients with cardiac insufficiency (heart failure) and high blood pressure, the doctor should be consulted before starting treatment about the amounts of fluid and sodium supplied by the medicine.Because of the high glucose content, the medicine should only be used by diabetics after consulting their doctor.Infants and small children: A doctor should always be consulted when treating diarrhea in infants and small children.Effects on the ability to drive and use machines have not yet been reported.Side effects could affect the ability to react.
