Application

Macrogol plus electrolytes Dexcel® 13.7 g is a laxative used for chronic constipation in adolescents, adults and elderly patients.It is not suitable for use in children under 12 years of age.The preparation supports pleasant intestinal activity, even in the case of long-term constipation.If your symptoms do not improve or even worsen, please consult a doctor.

Ingredients

One sachet contains the following active ingredients: 13.125 g macrogol 3350, 0.3507 g sodium chloride, 0.1785 g sodium bicarbonate and 0.0466 g potassium chloride.The following excipients are also included: Saccharin sodium (Ph.Eur.), highly disperse silicon dioxide, orange flavor (contains flavorings, maltodextrin, Arabic gum, all-rac-a-tocopherol) and lemon-lime flavor (contains flavorings, maltodextrin, mannitol (Ph.Eur.), D-glucono-1,5-lactone, sorbitol(Ph.Eur.), Arabic gum, highly dispersed silicon dioxide).

Contraindications

The preparation must not be taken if you are allergic to macrogol 3350, sodium chloride, sodium hydrogen carbonate, potassium chloride or any of the other ingredients.Taking it is also contraindicated if you have a perforated intestinal wall, an intestinal blockage (ileus) or severe inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease or toxic megacolon.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.For adults, adolescents and elderly patients, the recommended dose for constipation is 1 sachet dissolved in 125 ml of water 1 to 3 times daily.The duration of use should normally not be longer than 2 weeks.However, if your doctor advises you, you may take it longer, especially if you have persistent constipation or certain medical conditions.In such cases the dose can be reduced to one sachet once or twice daily.

No prescription is required for this product.

Intake

The medicine can be taken at any time of the day and regardless of meals.Open the bag and pour the contents into a glass.Add about 125 ml of water and stir until the powder is completely dissolved and the solution is clear or slightly cloudy.Then drink the solution.

Patient information

You should continue to drink enough fluids while taking it, as the liquid content of the preparation does not replace regular fluid intake.If you notice side effects such as swelling, shortness of breath, tiredness, dehydration or heart problems, stop taking it and contact your doctor immediately.The preparation has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant, breast-feeding, or think you may be pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.The medicine can be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Notes

Macrogol plus electrolytes Dexcel® 13.7 g has a high sodium content and contains sorbitol and potassium.Please do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the pack.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.
