Perenterol forte 250 mg capsules are used to treat acute diarrhoea. They can also be used for the prevention and treatment of traveller's diarrhoea as well as diarrhoea under tube feeding. In addition, they are used as an adjunctive treatment for prolonged forms of acne. The medicinal product contains the active ingredient Saccharomyces boulardii, a dry yeast that stabilises the intestinal flora and is effective in diarrhoea of various causes. It binds pathogens, neutralises bacterial toxins and strengthens the immune system. The capsules are taken unchewed before meals with sufficient liquid. The usual dosage for adults and children from 2 years of age depends on the respective indication. Perenterol forte 250 mg is well tolerated and also suitable for people with sensitive intestines. It does not interfere with the movement of the intestines. Side effects are rare and may include flatulence. The capsules should be stored away from moisture. The medicine is available for self-medication and can also be used in children from 2 years of age. However, pregnant women should not use it.
