Perenterol Junior 250 mg powder is a medicine used to treat acute diarrhoea. It can also be used to prevent and treat travellers' diarrhoea and diarrhoea under tube feeding. In addition, it is used as a supportive treatment for prolonged forms of acne. The active ingredient in Perenterol Junior is Saccharomyces cerevisiae dry yeast, also known as Saccharomyces boulardii. The medicine comes as a powder for ingestion. For infants and young children aged 6 months to 2 years, it is recommended to take 1-2 sachets of Perenterol Junior per day. For children from 2 years to 11 years and for adolescents from 12 years and adults, it is also recommended to take 1-2 sachets per day. The duration of treatment depends on the symptoms and should be continued for a few days after the symptoms have subsided. To prevent travellers' diarrhoea, treatment should be given for the entire duration of the journey. Side effects may include flatulence. Perenterol Junior should not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to the ingredients or in patients with a central venous catheter in place. In certain risk groups such as patients with immune deficiencies or during pregnancy and breastfeeding, the use should be discussed with a doctor beforehand.
