Macrogol HEXAL® plus electrolytes is a powdered laxative that effectively helps with chronic constipation.It is suitable for adults and teenagers aged 12 and over.Regular digestion is crucial for well-being, while constipation can affect quality of life.The drinking solution with a pleasant orange-lemon-lime aroma gently stimulates natural intestinal movement and can thus relieve constipation.

Mechanism of action - how does Macrogol HEXAL® plus electrolytes work?

Macrogol HEXAL® plus electrolytes gently but effectively moves the intestines.Like a sponge, it binds water and transports the liquid into the large intestine.There the hard stool is softened and the stool volume increases, which makes bowel movement easier.The active ingredient macrogol 3350 expands as water is absorbed in the intestines, thereby increasing stool volume.This causes intestinal motility to be stimulated and solid stools to soften, ultimately leading to defecation.In addition, Macrogol HEXAL® plus electrolytes with sodium and potassium contains important electrolytes that would normally be increasingly excreted when using laxatives and would therefore be lost to the body.This otherwise negative balance is balanced out by using Macrogol HEXAL® plus electrolytes, especially for long-term use.

How does constipation occur?

Constipation can have various causes.A change in diet, too little fluid intake, feverish illnesses or medications taken can cause a sluggish intestine.Illnesses such as irritable bowel syndrome, diverticula or hemorrhoids can also be the cause.Disturbances in the salt balance or pressure on the gastrointestinal tract during pregnancy can also cause digestive problems.Macrogol HEXAL® plus electrolytes can gently stimulate intestinal activity if you are not just suffering from temporary constipation.

You can support your digestion with the following measures:

Get enough exercise.

Eat fiber-rich foods with fruits, vegetables and whole grain products.

Maintain adequate fluid intake.

Take enough time with meals and chew food thoroughly.

Do not hold back bowel movements and take enough time to go to the toilet.

Reduce stress and stressful situations.

Application instructions and dosage recommendation

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over can take one sachet of Macrogol HEXAL® plus electrolytes 1 to 3 times a day, depending on the severity of the constipation.Dissolve the contents of one sachet in a glass with about 125 ml of water and stir until the powder is dissolved.The solution can then be drunk.The treatment usually lasts about 2 weeks.If you use it for a long time, you should talk to your doctor.No prescription is required for this product.

Notes

Macrogol HEXAL® plus electrolytes contains sodium, sorbitol and potassium.Use in children under 12 years is not recommended.Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.The effectiveness of Macrogol HEXAL® plus electrolytes is independent of the time of administration and food intake.Depending on the severity of the constipation, it may take a few days until the first bowel movement occurs.Long-term use should not last longer than two weeks without medical supervision.

0.3507 g sodium chloride

0.1785 g sodium bicarbonate

0.0466 g potassium chloride

Other ingredients: highly disperse silicon dioxide, saccharin sodium, orange flavor (contains natural flavors, glucose, maltodextrin, arabic gum, all-rac-α-tocopherol and sulfur dioxide [E 220]) and lemon-lime flavor (contains natural flavors and extracts, nature-identical flavors, maltodextrin, arabic gum, citric acid andSulfur dioxide [E 220]).

Contraindications

Macrogol HEXAL® plus electrolytes must not be used in cases of known hypersensitivity to one of the ingredients, perforated intestinal wall, narrowing of the intestine or intestinal obstruction, narrowing in the digestive tract, risk of intestinal perforation, severe inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, toxic megacolon, abdominal pain with an unknown cause and in children under 12 years of age.Please consult a doctor before using the product during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Dosage

For constipation, adults and young people aged 12 and over take the contents of one sachet, dissolved in a glass of water (approx. 125 ml), 1-3 times a day.Its use can be carried out without regard to meals and should normally not last longer than 2 weeks.If use for longer than 2 weeks is necessary, please discuss this with your doctor.

Intake

Open the bag and pour the contents into a glass.Add approximately 125 ml or 1/8 liter of water.Stir until the powder has dissolved and then drink the solution.

Patient information

You should continue to drink enough fluids while taking it.The liquid content of the preparation does not replace your regular fluid intake.If you develop side effects such as swelling, shortness of breath, fatigue, dehydration or heart problems, you should stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.The preparation has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.
