Directions for use for Zinc Ointment-ratiopharm Zinc Ointment-ratiopharm is a medicinal product traditionally used to support wound healing. It contains the active ingredients zinc oxide, cod liver oil and glycerol 85 %. It is used in the form of an ointment which is applied to the affected areas of the skin. Before using Zinc Ointment-ratiopharm, certain instructions should be followed. The medicinal product must not be used if there is an allergy to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients or if the wound is infected. When used in the genital or anal area, the tear strength of condoms may be reduced due to the excipients contained. Zinc ointment-ratiopharm can be used during pregnancy if used as intended, but large-scale application should be avoided. The medicinal product can also be used during breast-feeding, but large-area application to the breast should be avoided. During the application of Zinc Ointment-ratiopharm, local intolerance and hypersensitivity reactions such as itching, redness, dehydration and allergic contact reactions may occur. If such side effects occur, the medicinal product should not be used any longer and a doctor should be consulted. The dosage and use of Zinc Ointment-ratiopharm is according to the instructions in the package leaflet. The duration of use depends on the type of complaints and the course of the disease. In the case of prolonged or regularly recurring complaints, a doctor should be consulted. In addition to the active ingredients, Zinc Ointment-ratiopharm also contains various excipients that may cause skin irritation or allergies.
