Directions for use of the article Zinc Ointment Lichtenstein 10 %. The active ingredient is zinc oxide and it is used to support wound healing, including weeping or itchy wounds and chapped skin. It can also be used as a covering ointment. Before use, it should be noted that the ointment must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to zinc oxide, wool wax alcohols or any of the other ingredients. Special care should be taken when using the ointment in the genital or anal area, as the safety of condoms may be impaired if latex condoms are used at the same time. Other important notes include information that the medicine is available without prescription and that a doctor should be consulted if symptoms persist or worsen. Pregnant women can use the ointment, but should avoid extensive use. The ointment should not be applied to the breast while breastfeeding. Possible side effects include mild burning of the skin, skin intolerance reactions, eczema, redness of the skin and itching. The medicine should be stored away from heat. It contains the active ingredient zinc oxide (100 mg) and the excipients white vaseline, wool wax alcohols and cetylstearyl alcohol. Emulsifiers such as cetyl/stearyl alcohol may cause skin irritation. The medicinal product is contraindicated in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients.
