Information for use on the article Octeniderm skin antiseptic colourless liquid: - Indications: Skin disinfection before surgical procedures, catheterisation of blood vessels, blood and liquor sampling, injections, punctures, excisions, cannulations, biopsies, etc., suture care. If no special hand disinfectant is available, octeniderm® colourless can also be used for hygienic and surgical hand disinfection. - The active ingredients 1-propanol, 2-propanol and octenidine dihydrochloride are effective against bacteria (incl. mycobacteria), fungi and many viruses. The effectiveness of octeniderm® colourless against viruses includes enveloped viruses* (classification "limited virucidal"). - Octeniderm skin antiseptic colourless is colourless and provides protection against germs for up to 48 hours. It has a broad spectrum of action and is antiseptic with rapid onset of action. - A product with the active ingredient octenidine dihydrochloride, or octenidine for short, is usually used for infections of wounds and injuries of the skin and mucous membranes. It is mainly used before operations because it has a strong and broad antiseptic effect. Octeniderm skin antiseptic colourless contains octenidine and is therefore suitable for disinfecting wounds, protecting against new germs and infections and improving the healing of a wound. - Octeniderm skin antiseptic colourless disinfects the wound and protects against various bacteria, fungi and viruses for up to 48 hours. It is used, among other things, for suture care, operations and hygienic hand disinfection. - The solution is manufactured in-house by Schülke & Mayr GmbH. - When used, the antiseptic should either be applied with a soaked swab or sprayed onto the affected area. The area should be completely wetted and the exposure time observed. - The product should be kept out of the reach of children and should not be used on newborn or premature babies due to the high alcohol content. It should also be kept away from flames, electric heat sources or other hot sources. In case of eye contact, the eyelid should be opened and rinsed immediately with plenty of water.
