Vomacur® 40 mg suppositories is a medicine for the prevention and treatment of motion sickness, dizziness, nausea and vomiting.It is suitable for toddlers and children over 8 kg body weight.The product is available without a prescription.

Mode of action

Contraindications

Vomacur® 40 mg suppositories must not be used if you are hypersensitive to dimenhydrinate, other antihistamines or any of the other ingredients.The medicine should also not be used in acute asthma attacks, glaucoma (angle-closure glaucoma), adrenal gland tumor (pheochromocytoma), disorder of blood pigment production (porphyria), enlargement of the prostate gland (prostatic hyperplasia) with residual urine formation and seizures (epilepsy, eclampsia).

Dosage

The dosage of Vomacur® 40 mg suppositories depends on the patient's body weight.For small and light children, a single dose of the lowest dosage in the respective weight or age group can be enough to relieve the symptoms.The daily dose should not exceed 5 milligrams per kilogram of body weight.

For small children weighing 8 to 15 kg, the usual dose is 1 suppository once a day.Children weighing 15 to 25 kg should receive 1 suppository twice a day.Children over 25 kg body weight can use 1 suppository 2 to 3 times a day.Children aged 6 to 14 may receive a maximum of 150 mg dimenhydrinate per day.Higher-dose dosage forms are available for adults.

Vomacur® 40 mg suppositories are only intended for short-term use.If symptoms persist, a doctor should be consulted.After 2 weeks of treatment at the latest, a doctor should check whether further use is necessary.

Intake

Vomacur® 40 mg suppositories are not intended to be taken orally.To prevent motion sickness, the first application should be about 30 to 60 minutes before the start of the trip.To treat nausea and vomiting, the suppositories are administered at regular intervals throughout the day.The suppositories should be inserted deep into the rectum.
