Instructions for use for Octenisept wound disinfection, 1 l
octenisept® wound disinfection
When treating wounds, it is important to first clean them thoroughly.A wound disinfectant should then be applied, which should be available in every medicine cabinet.Octenisept® is a modern antiseptic that is characterized by high effectiveness and good tolerability. The combination of octenidine and phenoxyethanol provides a quick and broad antiseptic effect.
Octenisept® is ideal for treating acute wounds. It offers a long-lasting disinfectant effect, protects against wound infections and promotes wound healing. The application is painless and particularly suitable for children and infants. It is also a market-leading wound and mucous membrane antiseptic in the hospital sector.
In addition to wound treatment, Octenisept® is also used for the antiseptic treatment of mucous membranes and adjacent skin before diagnostic and surgical procedures. No prescription is required for this product.
Area of application
Octenisept solution is an antiseptic used for disinfection and supportive treatment of wounds. It effectively protects against infections in acute and chronic wounds as well as burn wounds on the skin and mucous membranes. The solution is also suitable for preparing skin and mucous membrane surfaces before diagnostic and surgical procedures. The alcohol-free solution is usually painless and therefore also suitable for infants and premature babies.Octenisept solution is colorless.
Mode of action
Octenisept solution has a broad spectrum of effectiveness. The onset of action is quick and lasts a long time. The antiseptic ingredient octenidine interacts with structures in the shell of microorganisms and causes lasting damage to them.Phenoxyethanol additionally complements the bactericidal properties of octenidine. This reliably eliminates bacteria, fungi and certain viruses on the skin and mucous membranes.
Active ingredients / ingredients / ingredients
100 g of Octenisept solution contains octenidine hydrochloride 0.1 g and phenoxyethanol (Ph. Eur.) 2.0 g as active ingredients.Other ingredients include (3-coco fatty acid amidopropyl) dimethylazaniumyl acetate, sodium D-gluconate, glycerol 85%, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide and purified water.
Contraindications
If you are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, this product should not be used. The use of the solution as a rinse in the abdominal cavity, the urinary bladder and the eardrum is contraindicated.
Dosage
Octenisept solution is applied to the area to be disinfected.Make sure that it is completely and evenly covered and allow the product to take effect for at least a minute.Do not rinse with water! Please note further information in the package insert!
Intake
The preparation is intended exclusively for superficial use.Thoroughly clean the affected area by carefully wiping it one at a time with at least two swabs soaked in the medicine.Make sure the wound is completely moistened. Before further measures, such as applying a wound dressing, an exposure time of at least 1 to 2 minutes must be allowed. The oral cavity can be rinsed if complete treatment is required. In this case, 20 ml of the solution should be applied for 20 seconds. To support the treatment of fungal infections of the skin between the toes, the medicine should be sprayed onto the affected areas in the morning and evening.Consistent adherence to these application instructions is essential to achieve the desired effect.
Patient information
Do not swallow the medicine in large quantities or allow it to enter the bloodstream! In order to prevent possible tissue damage, the preparation must not be introduced into the tissue under pressure. For wound cavities, drainage must be guaranteed at all times (e.g. drainage, tab).
Pregnancy
Pregnancy.Current experience with pregnant women does not indicate any risk.Breast-feeding: There are no sufficient animal experimental and clinical data on use during breast-feeding.Since octenidine dihydrochloride is not absorbed or only absorbed in very small amounts, it can be assumed that it does not pass into breast milk.Phenoxyethanol is quickly and practically completely absorbed and excreted almost quantitatively as an oxidation product via the kidneys.Accumulation in breast milk is therefore unlikely.
