Instructions for use for Isotonic Nacl solution 0.9% Eifel fango, 10x100 ml
Product information: Isotonic sodium chloride solution 0.9% Eifelfango, solution for infusion
No prescription is required for this product.
Areas of application
This infusion solution is used for fluid and electrolyte replacement in hypochloremic alkalosis, chloride losses, short-term intravascular volume replacement as well as in hypotonic and isotonic dehydration.
Composition
The solution contains 0.154 mmol chloride ions (Cl-) and 0.154 mmol sodium ions (Na+) per milliliter.1000 ml contains 9.00 g of sodium chloride.Other ingredients include water for injections and hydrochloric acid for pH adjustment. The theoretical osmolarity is 309 mOsm/L and the pH is between 4.5 and 7.0.
Contraindications
The solution must not be used in overwatering conditions (hyperhydration conditions).Caution is advised in the case of reduced potassium content in the blood (hypokalemia), increased sodium content in the blood (hypernatremia), increased chloride content in the blood (hyperchloremia), as well as in diseases that require restrictive sodium intake, such as heart failure, generalized edema, pulmonary edema, hypertension, eclampsia and severe renal insufficiency.
Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding
There are no concerns about use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Precautions for use
Regular checks of electrolyte and fluid status are required.
Interactions with other agents
So far no interactions are known.
Dosage instructions, type and duration of application
The solution is infused intravenously. The dosage depends on the fluid and electrolyte requirements, which are usually 40 ml per kilogram of body mass per day or 2 mmol sodium per kilogram of body mass per day.The maximum infusion rate depends on the clinical situation. The maximum daily dose is 3-6 mmol sodium per kilogram of body mass for adults and 3-5 mmol sodium per kilogram of body mass for children. In hypertonic dehydration, excessive infusion rates should be avoided to prevent an increase in plasma osmolarity and plasma sodium concentration.
Advice in case of overdose
Symptoms of overdose may include overhydration, increased sodium and chloride levels in the blood (hypernatremia, hyperchloremia), hyperosmolarity and an acidotic metabolic state. In the event of an overdose, the supply of the solution should be interrupted, elimination via the kidneys accelerated and the supply of the corresponding electrolytes reduced.
Side effects
Possible side effects include increased sodium and chloride content in the blood (hypernatremia, hyperchloremia).
Information on the shelf life of the drug
The medicine must not be used after the expiry date stated on the carton and bottle label.Only use clear solutions in undamaged containers!Use solution immediately after opening!Discard remaining stock!
Dosage form and contents
The infusion solution is available in injection bottles of 50 and 100 ml.Packs contain 1, 5, 10 or 20 bottles.
