Area of application
The medicine is a neuropathy preparation.Alpha-lipoic acid, the active ingredient of the drug, is a substance formed in the body's own metabolism in higher living beings that influences certain metabolic processes in the body.In addition, alpha-lipoic acid has antioxidant properties that protect nerve cells from reactive degradation products.The preparation is used for abnormal sensations caused by diabetic nerve damage (polyneuropathy).

The medicine contains 1167.7 mg alpha-lipoic acid as meglumine salt, which corresponds to 600 mg DL-alpha-lipoic acid.The following excipients are also included: Macrogol 300, meglumine and water for injections.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be used if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to alpha-lipoic acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Dosage
The medicine should always be used exactly as directed.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.Please adhere to the application instructions, otherwise the product will not work properly!
Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the usual dose is: If the abnormal sensations of diabetic polyneuropathy are severe, the daily dosage for adults is 600 mg alpha-lipoic acid (corresponding to 1 injection bottle) in the initial phase.The injection solution is used over a period of 2 - 4 weeks in the initial phase of treatment.
To continue treatment, 300 mg to 600 mg of alpha-lipoic acid should be taken daily in capsule, tablet or coated tablet form.Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect is too strong or too weak.
If you use more than you should: Overdose may cause nausea, vomiting and headaches.In individual cases, severe, e.g.T. life-threatening symptoms of poisoning were observed.Therefore, if a significant overdose is suspected, immediate hospitalization and the initiation of measures in accordance with the general principles of treatment of cases of poisoning are necessary.
If you forget to use: A double dose should not be used if the previous application has been forgotten.
If you stop using: The use should not be stopped without consulting your doctor.

Intake
Intravenous administration should be administered slowly by administering the contents as a short infusion over at least 30 minutes.The infusion is carried out directly from the bottle using a standard infusion set and the included light protection hanging bag.Because the active ingredient is sensitive to light, the injection bottle should only be removed from the folding box shortly before use.It must be ensured that the minimum infusion time of 30 minutes is adhered to.
Patient information
Take special care when using: Allergic reactions including life-threatening shock have been observed in connection with use as an infusion solution.Therefore, your doctor will monitor you for early symptoms during use.If these occur, therapy should be stopped immediately;Further therapeutic measures may be necessary.In individual cases, particularly severe hypersensitivity reactions have been observed when using the drug in patients with uncontrolled diabetes or poorly controllable diabetes and poor general health.
Alpha-lipoic acid reacts with metal ion complexes in vitro.Alpha lipoic acid forms poorly soluble complex compounds with sugar molecules.The medicinal product is incompatible with glucose solution, Ringer's solution and with solutions known to react with SH-groups or disulfide bridges.Only physiological saline solution should be used as a carrier solution for infusion use.
Children: Children and adolescents should be excluded from treatment with the drug as there is no clinical experience.
Driving and using machines: No special precautions are required.
Pregnancy
Before using any medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. It is in accordance with the general principles of pharmacotherapy to use drugs during pregnancy and breastfeeding only after careful risk-benefit assessment.Pregnant and breastfeeding women should only undergo treatment with alpha-lipoic acid after careful recommendation and monitoring by a doctor, as there is currently no experience with this patient group.Special studies on animals have shown no evidence of fertility disorders or teratogenic effects.Nothing is known about the possible excretion of alpha-lipoic acid into breast milk.
