Areas of application

Algoplaque Film is a self-adhesive, sterile wound dressing made of hydrocolloids applied to a carrier film.It is used for the local treatment of weakly exuding superficial wounds, such as superficial ulcers and pressure ulcers, traumatic wounds and wounds towards the end of the healing process, i.e. in the epithelialization phase.It can also be used to treat stitched wounds.In this case, the dressing should be changed at least every 4 to 6 days.

Properties

When Algoplaque Film comes into contact with the wound, it forms a moist gel that supports the healing process.The wound dressing is transparent and therefore allows the wound to be monitored.It is adaptable and impermeable to water and bacteria.This means that the wound dressing adapts to any area of the body and can also be worn when bathing and showering.

Application instructions

Preparing the wound

First clean and rinse the wound according to the usual care protocol, e.g. with physiological saline solution, and then carefully dry the wound edges with a sterile compress.If the wound is dirty, it is recommended to clean it beforehand with an antiseptic solution.Then rinse the wound with physiological saline solution and then carefully dry the edges of the wound with a sterile compress.

Applying the wound dressing

Peel off the protective film from the back of the wound dressing.Place the wound dressing on the wound, if possible without touching the adhesive surface.Do not stretch the wound dressing when applying it.The wound dressing should extend about 2 to 3 cm beyond the wound so that the edges of the adhesive do not rest on diseased areas of skin.Gently smooth the dressing over the wound;It should be pressed a little harder at the edges of the wound.

Change of dressing

Removing the wound dressing prematurely could damage healthy skin, so the wound dressing should have loosened itself in places before changing the dressing.A dressing change should not take place within the first 48 hours.Please carefully remove the wound dressing close to the surface of the skin.When the wound dressing is removed, gel residue may remain on the wound, which can be easily and painlessly removed by simply washing it off.

Contraindications

Algoplaque Film must not be used on an infected wound.It should also not be used if you are known to be hypersensitive to the wound dressing or for heavily exuding wounds.
