Prospan cough effervescent tablets are a herbal medicine used for catarrhal diseases of the respiratory tract.It helps to relieve the symptoms of chronic inflammatory bronchial diseases as well as acute inflammation of the respiratory tract with cough.The product is available without a prescription.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The effervescent tablets contain 65 mg of ivy leaf dry extract (5-7.5:1) as the active ingredient.The extract is prepared with ethanol 30% (m/m).The following excipients are also included: citric acid, anhydrous, mannitol, sodium carbonate, sodium citrate 2-water, sodium cyclamate, sodium bicarbonate, PEG castor oil, hydrogenated, saccharin sodium 2-water, simeticone, sorbitol, medium-chain triglycerides, flavorings (natural and nature-identical) and lactose.The total amount of carbohydrates is 382 mg, which includes 0.03 BE .There are also 6.58 mmol or 151.33 mg of sodium ions present.

Area of application

Prospan cough effervescent tablets are used as an expectorant for productive coughs.They loosen mucus, relieve the urge to cough and can be dissolved in hot or cold drinks.The product is particularly suitable for annoying coughs and acute bronchitis.The special ivy extract EA 575 it contains ensures a strong effect and helps with productive and mucous coughs in adults.Taking it in warm or cold drinks also increases your fluid intake.

Dosage and application

Adults and adolescents aged 12 and over should take a whole effervescent tablet in the morning and half an effervescent tablet in the evening, which corresponds to a total daily dose of 97.5 mg of dry ivy leaf extract.Children aged 6 to 12 years take half an effervescent tablet twice daily, which corresponds to a total daily dose of 65 mg of dry ivy leaf extract.The effervescent tablets are dissolved in a glass of water (approx. 100-200 ml) and taken morning and evening.The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the clinical picture and should be at least one week.Even after the symptoms of the disease have subsided, it is recommended to continue the treatment for another 2-3 days.

Contraindications and patient information

The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to the active ingredient or any of the other ingredients.Particular caution is required when taking children as the effervescent tablets are not intended for children under 6 years of age.No special precautions are required regarding the ability to drive and use machines.The preparation contains sorbitol, so people with fructose intolerance should discuss this with their doctor.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Due to insufficient research, the medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Notes
