The GAVISCON® Dual chewable tablets were developed with a special combination of active ingredients to combat heartburn, acid reflux and similar reflux-related symptoms such as indigestion.The main active ingredient alginate ensures the formation of an extra strong alginate protective barrier.As the alginate extracted from brown algae reacts with stomach acid together with sodium bicarbonate and calcium and swells, it forms a gel-like protective barrier on the stomach contents.The function of this barrier is to prevent stomach acid from rising into the esophagus, so that the reflux symptoms can be relieved by the chewable tablets.The calcium carbonate it contains also ensures that stomach acid is neutralized.

The main active ingredient, alginate, has a purely mechanical action and does not enter the bloodstream, which allows the use of GAVISCON® Dual during pregnancy and breastfeeding for heartburn.Since the peppermint flavored chewable tablets are taken without water, they are practical companions for on the go and when traveling.

What exactly is meant by reflux?

Reflux occurs when stomach acid enters the esophagus, which can cause symptoms such as heartburn.Typical symptoms include a burning sensation behind the breastbone, sour belching and sometimes a sour or salty taste in the mouth.

Possible causes of heartburn

Various factors can influence the occurrence of heartburn.Overeating, being overweight or habits like smoking are some of these risk factors.Pregnancy can also cause reflux symptoms due to increased pressure on the stomach area.

Preventive measures

Application and dosage

If necessary, adults and children aged 12 and over can chew 2-4 chewable tablets up to 4 times a day after meals or before going to bed.No dose adjustment is necessary for older people.Children under 12 years of age should only take GAVISCON Dual chewable tablets after consulting their doctor.

Ingredients

1 Chewable tablet contains: 250 mg sodium alginate, 106.5 mg sodium hydrogen carbonate, 187.5 mg calcium carbonate.Other ingredients: Macrogol 20000, mannitol, copovidone, acesulfame potassium, aspartame (contains phenylalanine), peppermint flavor (= levomenthol, sucrose), azorubine, magnesium stearate, xylitol, carmellose sodium.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to the active ingredient or one of the excipients mentioned above, GAVISCON Dual chewable tablets should not be used.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, you should only take medication after consulting your doctor or pharmacist.
