Directions for use of the article Kreon 25.000: Kreon 25000 is a medicine in the form of hard capsules. The active substance is porcine pancreatic powder with amylase/lipase/protease activity. It is used for the treatment of digestive disorders due to insufficient function of the pancreas (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency) and in cystic fibrosis. The recommended dosage depends on the severity of the digestive weakness and is usually between 20,000 and 80,000 lipase units per main meal. It is taken during or immediately after a meal. Kreon 25000 should not be taken if there is hypersensitivity to pork or any of the other ingredients of the medicine. In patients with cystic fibrosis, taking high doses may cause intestinal damage. Possible side effects include abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhoea, nausea/vomiting and rash. In case of allergic reactions or severe symptoms, a doctor should be consulted. The medicine should be stored out of the reach of children and below 25°C. The shelf life is 3 months after opening the pack.
