Area of application

Melabon® K is used for mild to moderate pain.It is suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over if other measures do not work.The medicine is a painkiller, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory agent that belongs to the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs/analgesics.No prescription is required for this product.

Melabon® K contains the following active ingredients: 250 mg acetylsalicylic acid, 50 mg caffeine and 250 mg paracetamol.The following excipients are also included: microcrystalline cellulose, hypromellose, corn starch, methylcellulose, polydimethylsiloxane, highly disperse silicon dioxide, talc and sorbic acid.

Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients mentioned, the product should not be used.The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol, caffeine or any of the other ingredients.Also in the case of previous hypersensitive reactions to salicylates or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, if there is a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation, if there are existing or recurrent stomach and duodenal ulcers, if there is a pathologically increased tendency to bleeding, if there is liver and kidney failure, if there is severe heart failure, if you are taking 15 mg or more methotrexate per week at the same time, in the last three months of pregnancy or in children under 12The medicine must not be used for years.

Acetylsalicylic acid can impair fertility in women, this effect is reversible after discontinuation of the drug.

Dosage

Please take the tablets whole with plenty of liquid and avoid taking them on an empty stomach.The recommended dose for adults and children aged 12 and over is a single dose of 1 to 2 tablets, equivalent to 250 to 500 mg acetylsalicylic acid, 250 to 500 mg paracetamol and 50 to 100 mg caffeine.The total daily dose should not exceed up to 6 tablets, which corresponds to 1500 mg acetylsalicylic acid, 1500 mg paracetamol and 300 mg caffeine.The single dose can be taken at intervals of 4 to 8 hours up to 3 times a day if necessary.

In patients with liver or kidney dysfunction and Gilbert's syndrome, the dose must be reduced or the interval between doses increased.A total daily dose of 2 g of paracetamol must not be exceeded without medical advice.In severe renal insufficiency, the interval between doses should be at least 8 hours.

If painkillers are stopped abruptly after long-term, high-dose, improper use, headaches as well as fatigue, muscle pain, nervousness and vegetative symptoms may occur.The withdrawal symptoms subside within a few days.Until then, you should not take painkillers again and you should not take them again without medical advice.

Do not use the preparation for a long time or in higher doses without medical or dental advice.Taking the total daily dose once can cause serious liver damage.In such a case, medical help should be sought immediately.
