Directions for use of the article Methocel 2% Eye Drops Product properties: - Methocel 2% eye drops are a solution for contact lens examinations of the eye. - The solution is prepared under aseptic conditions. - The content of a 1 g bottle contains hypromellose 20 mg, boric acid, trometamol, benzalkonium chloride (preservative) 0.1 mg and water for injection. - Methocel® is a highly viscous, colourless and transparent solution of hypromellose. - The solution is isotonic to the tear fluid and is made from very pure quality hypromellose to ensure consistent viscosity. Indications: - Methocel 2% eye drops are recommended for contact lens examinations or treatments of the eye with contact lenses. - This may be required for examinations such as gonioscopy or funduscopy or for treatments such as argon laser trabeculoplasty. Directions for use: - Before use, the concave parts of the contact glasses should be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. - Apply 1-2 drops to the concave part of the contact lens and then use on the eye as usual. - When removing the contact lens, tilt the angle of the lens to avoid possible suction. - The eye should then be examined with the slit lamp for epithelial integrity. - The use of contact lenses is recommended for trained ophthalmologists only. Restrictions on use: - Methocel 2% eye drops should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Side effects: - Occasionally, temporary redness or swelling of the conjunctiva may occur after using Methocel® wetted contact lenses. Storage: - Do not use the eye drops after the expiry date on the packaging. - Replace the cap after use and protect the bottle from light. - Storage should be between 15-25 °C. - After first opening, the eye drops may be used within 3 months. Notice: - The use of Methocel® is simplified if the bottle is turned upside down with the help of the stand cap. Warnings: - Methocel 2% eye drops should be kept out of the reach of children. - They are for external use only and should not be used inside the eye.
