Summary: Methocel 2% eye drops are a solution for use with contact lenses during examination or treatment of the eye. The solution contains hypromellose as the main ingredient and other ingredients such as preservatives and water for injection. Methocel is highly viscous, colourless and isotonic to the tear fluid. It is recommended to thoroughly clean and disinfect the contact glass before each use. The drops are applied to the concave part of the contact lens and then used on the eye. Side effects may include temporary redness or swelling of the conjunctiva. They should be stored between 15-25°C and used within 3 months after first opening.
