Area of application

This medicine is used to bind excess stomach acid and is used for the symptomatic treatment of diseases in which neutralization of stomach acid is required.These include stomach and duodenal ulcers as well as heartburn and other acid-related stomach problems.No prescription is required for this product.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The suspension contains 1 gram of almasilate, 200 milligrams of aluminum oxide and 300 milligrams of magnesium oxide per gram. The following excipients are also included: hyetellosis, povidone K25, 1400 milligrams of propylene glycol, saccharin sodium salt, 320 milligrams of sorbitol, purified water, 23 milligrams of sodium ions and peppermint aroma.

Contraindications

The medicine must not be taken if you are allergic to almasilate or any of the other ingredients or if you suffer from a low phosphate concentration in the blood (hypophosphatemia).It should not be used in children under 12 years of age as there is insufficient experience in this age group.

Dosage

Always take the medicine exactly as described or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.The usual dose is 10 milliliters, equivalent to one sachet, four times a day.The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the disease.If the symptoms persist for more than two weeks, you should consult a doctor.In the event of an overdose, changes in bowel behavior may occur, but therapeutic measures are usually not necessary.Don't forget to take double the amount if you forget to take a dose.Do not stop taking it without consulting your doctor.

Intake

The medicine is intended to be taken orally.It should be taken undiluted 1 to 2 hours after meals and before bed.

Patient information

Long-lasting and recurring stomach problems can indicate a serious illness.Treatment without a medical examination should not last longer than 14 days.If tarry stools, blood in the stool or vomiting of blood occur, you should consult a doctor immediately.With long-term use, regular monitoring of aluminum serum levels is necessary.Patients with impaired kidney function should avoid high doses to prevent poisoning.Long-term use of high doses and a low-phosphate diet can lead to phosphate depletion.

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.The benefit-risk ratio should be carefully considered before taking aluminum-containing antacids during pregnancy.The medicine should only be used for a short time during pregnancy to avoid exposing the child to aluminum.Aluminum compounds pass into breast milk, but there is no risk to the newborn.

Notes

Some of the aluminum is absorbed and leads to an increase in the concentrations of aluminum in the blood and an increase in aluminum excretion via the kidneys.Aluminum levels remain below the toxic range and return to normal in 3-4 days after stopping taking the drug.A small portion of the magnesium is absorbed.The magnesium concentration in the blood usually remains unchanged through excretion via the kidneys.If kidney function is impaired and high amounts are consumed over the long term, an excess of magnesium can lead to magnesium poisoning and aluminum deposition, especially in the nerve and bone tissue.Aluminum levels should be checked regularly during long-term use and should not exceed 40g/l.This is particularly true if there is reduced kidney function.If symptoms persist for a long time or/and recur at frequent intervals, a serious illness such as a stomach ulcer or malignancy should be ruled out.In the case of stomach or small intestinal ulcers, an examination should be carried out for a specific pathogen (Helicobacter pylori) in order to carry out appropriate treatment against it if positive.
