Polysept solution is an antiseptic used to disinfect the skin or antiseptic the mucous membrane. It is used before operations, biopsies, injections, punctures, blood sampling and bladder catheterisation. It can also be used for antiseptic wound treatment, burns and infected skin conditions. The solution contains the active substance povidone-iodine. Before using Polysept solution, it is important to read the package leaflet carefully. There are some precautions to be observed, especially in patients with thyroid disorders or with concurrent lithium therapy. The use of Polysept Solution during pregnancy and lactation should only be under medical supervision and extremely limited. The dose and frequency of use depend on the indication.
