Instructions for use of the article Heparin-ratiopharm Sport-Gel: Heparin-ratiopharm Sport-Gel is used to treat swelling and inflammation after injuries. It can be used for bruises, haematomas and superficial phlebitis if compression treatment is not possible. The gel contains heparin sodium as the active ingredient. It should be applied thinly and evenly to the affected skin area, 2-3 times daily. The duration of application should not exceed 10 days. Side effects such as allergic reactions to the skin are rare. Pregnant and breastfeeding women can usually use the gel without hesitation. There may be interactions with other medicines and allergic reactions to fragrances. There should be no open wounds and the gel should not come into contact with the eyes or mucous membranes. If new symptoms occur, such as swelling, redness and pain, heparin-induced thrombocytopenia type II should be excluded.
