Isopropyl alcohol 70% (V/V) Hetterich is a disinfectant with the active ingredient 2-propanol.It is used for hygienic and surgical hand disinfection, skin disinfection before simple injections and punctures of peripheral vessels, as well as before operations and punctures of joints.It is also suitable for disinfecting skin rich in sebaceous glands and for cooling compresses.No prescription is required for this product.

Contraindications and precautions

Isopropyl alcohol 70% (V/V) Hetterich must not be used to disinfect open wounds.Eye contact should be avoided as the fumes can cause drowsiness and dizziness.There are no known interactions with other medicines.If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should seek medical or pharmacist advice before use.

Application

Isopropyl alcohol 70% (V/V) Hetterich is used for use on the skin.To make cooling compresses, dilute the solution with equal parts water.The application is as follows:

For hygienic hand disinfection, the hands are rubbed with the solution and kept moist for 30 seconds.For surgical hand disinfection, hands and forearms are rubbed with the solution and kept moist for 5 minutes.Before simple injections and punctures of peripheral vessels, the skin is carefully rubbed with the solution and kept moist for 15 seconds.Before operations and punctures of joints, the skin is carefully rubbed with the solution and kept moist for 1 minute.To disinfect skin rich in sebaceous glands, the skin is carefully rubbed with the solution and kept moist for 10 minutes.

Isopropyl alcohol 70% (V/V) Hetterich does not kill spores and is therefore not suitable for storing sterile instruments and syringes.The times indicated are minimum times and may be extended depending on additional difficulties.

Side effects

When rubbing the skin with isopropyl alcohol 70% (V/V) Hetterich, redness and slight burning may occur.If you notice any side effects, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Storage

Isopropyl alcohol 70% (V/V) Hetterich is highly flammable and should be kept away from sources of ignition.The medicine must be kept out of the reach of children and must not be used after the expiry date stated on the label or carton.The expiry date refers to the last day of the specified month.

If the solution is spilled, measures against fire and explosion must be taken immediately.Suitable measures include picking up the spilled liquid, diluting it with water, ventilating the room and eliminating sources of ignition.
