Dona 250 mg tablets are a medicinal product used to relieve symptoms of mild to moderate osteoarthritis of the knee joint. The coated tablets contain glucosamine hemisulphate as the active substance. Glucosamine hemisulphate is a substance called a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and anti-rheumatic drug. It is recommended to take 500 mg of glucosamine hemisulphate three times a day, which is equivalent to 3 coated tablets of Dona 250 mg. The tablets should be taken unchewed with sufficient liquid with meals. Glucosamine is not suitable for treating acute painful symptoms. Symptom relief often only occurs after a few weeks. If no improvement is noted after 2-3 months, further treatment with glucosamine should be reviewed. The tablets should be stored at room temperature and out of reach of children. A leaflet with further information on risks and side effects should be read and a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted if there is any uncertainty.
