Instructions for use of the article Aknederm Ointment New Important information (compulsory information): Aknederm Ointment New. Indications: Mildly acting medicinal product for skin impurities. Warning: Contains methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate and cetylstearyl alcohol. For risks and side effects, read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacist. Product properties: What is Aknederm Ointment New and what is it used for? Aknederm Ointment New is a traditional medicine. Aknederm Ointment New is used as a mild medicine for skin blemishes. Note: If the skin blemishes do not improve or if inflammation occurs in the area of application, consult a doctor. How should Aknederm Ointment New be used? Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as agreed with your doctor or pharmacist. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. Method of use: The following information applies unless your doctor has told you otherwise. Please follow the instructions for use, otherwise Aknederm Ointment New may not work properly! Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is: Apply a thin layer evenly to the affected skin areas in the morning and evening. Do not use Aknederm Salbe Neu on large areas of skin covering more than 20 % of the body surface. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Aknederm Ointment New is too strong or too weak. If you have used a larger amount of Aknederm Ointment New than you should have: Overdoses are not known. Excess ointment can easily be removed with water. If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist. How should Aknederm Ointment New be stored? Keep this medicine out of the reach of children! Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the tube and carton after "EXP". The expiry date refers to the last day of the month indicated. Storage conditions: Do not store above 25 ºC! Note on shelf life after opening or preparation: Aknederm Ointment New has a shelf life of 6 months after opening the tube. Do not dispose of medicines in waste water or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of the medicine when you stop using it. You will be helping to protect the environment. What Aknederm Ointment New contains The active ingredients are: Ammonium bituminosulfonate and zinc oxide. 1 g ointment contains 0.02 g ammonium bituminosulphonate and 0.1 g zinc oxide. The other ingredients are: Methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (Ph. Eur.), purified water, talc, medium-chain triglycerides, white vaseline, emulsifying cetylstearyl alcohol type A (Ph. Eur.), glycerol monostearate, iron oxides and hydroxides (E 172). Note from our pharmacists: In general, we are happy to supply you with our products in household quantities with a maximum of 15 packs per quarter. In the context of drug safety, we reserve the right to set separate maximum quantities for certain medicines. This applies in particular to products that are only used for a short time or have an increased potential for overdose. Indications: - Traditionally used as a mild acting medicine for skin blemishes. Dosage and directions for use: Adolescents 12 years and older and adults thinly 2 times daily in the morning and evening. The total dose should not be exceeded without consulting a doctor or pharmacist. Method of use: Apply the medicine thinly to the affected areas of the skin. Massage the medicine in gently afterwards. Wash your hands thoroughly after application. Avoid accidental contact with the eyes, mucous membranes, open wounds or damaged skin. Duration of use: The duration of use depends on the type of symptoms and/or the course of the disease. In case of prolonged or regularly recurring complaints, you should consult your doctor. Overdose: So far, no overdose symptoms are known. In case of doubt, consult your doctor. Special dosage recommendations apply for certain age groups. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about possible effects or precautions. Contraindications: - Hypersensitivity to the ingredients. - Children under 12 years of age should not usually use the medicine. - Pregnant women should not apply the medicine to the breast If you have been prescribed the medicine despite a contraindication, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. The therapeutic benefit may be greater than the risk. Side effects: - Reddening of the skin due to increased blood flow (erythema). - Dry skin (xeroderma) - Rough skin - Itching (pruritus) - Burning sensation on the skin - Change in colour and coarsening of the epidermis (acanthosis) If you experience any discomfort or change during treatment, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Mainly side effects occurring in at least one in 1,000 treated patients are considered. Composition: - Active ingredients: ammonium bituminosulfonate (20 mg), zinc oxide (100 mg). - Other ingredients: Methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate, purified water, talc, medium chain triglycerides, white vaseline, emulsifying cetylstearyl alcohol type A, glycerol monostearate, iron oxides and hydroxides. Mode of action: - The exact mode of action of the ingredients has not yet been proven in scientific studies. However, the medicinal product can help with certain complaints, which has been shown by many years of experience. Important notes: - Caution in case of allergy to slate oil (ichthammol, ichthyol, Tyrolean stone oil)! - Parabens (preservatives) may cause hypersensitivity reactions. - Emulsifiers (e.g. cetyl/stearyl alcohol) may cause skin irritation. - There may be interactions with other medicines. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are already using. - The medicine must be protected from heat and stored at room temperature. - After opening, the medicine has a shelf life of 6 months.
