Areas of application
This medicine is a laxative used for constipation. It can also be used for diseases that require easier bowel emptying, as well as in preparation for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on the intestines.Like other laxatives, it should not be used daily or over a long period of time without a medical examination of the cause of constipation.
Active ingredients and ingredients
Each suppository contains 10 mg of bisacodyl as the active ingredient. The excipients include hard fat, corn starch and highly disperse silicon dioxide.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be used if you are allergic to bisacodyl or any of the other ingredients. It should also not be used if you have symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or fever, as these symptoms can indicate serious illnesses. It is also not suitable for children under 10 years of age.In addition, the preparation should not be used for illnesses with water and mineral salt balance disorders.
Dosage
The usual dose for adults and children over 10 years of age is 1 suppository once, which is equivalent to 10 mg of bisacodyl. The maximum daily dose should not be exceeded. The suppositories are inserted into the rectum and the effect occurs approximately 15 to 30 minutes later.During diagnostic and therapeutic procedures on the intestines, it is used as directed by a doctor.
The use of the drug is usually a single application. If symptoms recur, it can be used again. However, it should not be used continuously daily or for long periods of time without clarifying the cause of constipation.
Overdose may cause diarrhea and abdominal cramps with loss of fluid, potassium and other mineral salts. If severe symptoms occur, a doctor should be consulted.Treatment depends on the prevailing symptoms and can include compensating for fluid and salt losses.
If you forget to use it, you should not use double the amount.
Intake
The suppositories are inserted into the rectum.Breaking off smaller particles at the edge of the cavity at the bottom end of the suppository does not affect its effectiveness.Further information can be found in the instructions for use.
Patient information
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product. The use of laxatives should only be done for a short period of time without medical advice. If you have chronic constipation, you should ask your doctor for advice before use.
Increased fluid loss can lead to dehydration, which in certain circumstances can have adverse health effects. In such cases, use should be discontinued and only continued under medical supervision.Laxatives do not contribute to weight loss.
Patients reported blood in the stool, which was generally described as mild and resolved on its own.Attacks of dizziness or brief loss of consciousness have also been reported, presumably due to laxation, straining, or circulatory reactions due to abdominal pain.
The use of suppositories can lead to painful sensations and local irritation, especially in patients with tears in the anal mucosa or chronic inflammation of the rectum.Children under 10 years of age should not use the product and in children it should only be used on medical advice.
No studies on the effect on the ability to drive and use machines have been conducted. Please note that side effects may occur that could theoretically affect driving and operating machines.

Notes
No prescription is required for this product.Laxatives should only be taken for a short time if you are constipated. In general, treatment with bisacodyl is only recommended when long-term measures such as diet and lifestyle changes cannot achieve sufficient success.Long-term use of the drug can lead to an increase in intestinal constipation and increased losses of water, potassium and other salts, which can cause disturbances in cardiac function and muscle weakness. In the case of chronic constipation, the cause should be clarified by a doctor.
