Cleaning and hygiene

You should use drinking water quality to clean the Medela milk bottle.Clean the parts immediately after pumping to prevent milk residue from drying out and bacteria from growing.Use a brush to thoroughly clean the parts without damaging them.Before each use, check all components for damage or wear and replace if necessary.For hygiene reasons, we recommend replacing vacuum cleaners after 3 months.

Clean before first use and daily

Before first use and once a day, you should disassemble, wash and rinse all parts of the bottle.Place the parts in a sufficiently large pot and fill it with cold water until all parts are covered.To prevent limescale deposits, you can add a teaspoon of citric acid.Heat the water and let it boil for 5 minutes.Remove the pot from the heat, pour out the water and dry the parts with a clean cloth.

Alternative cleaning methods

As an alternative to boiling, you can clean the parts in the dishwasher in the top rack.In the microwave you can use Medela Quick CleanT microwave bags or other microwave-friendly tools.When using a steam sterilizer, follow the manufacturer's instructions for use.

Clean after each use

After each use, you should disassemble all parts and clean them with warm, soapy water.Rinse the parts with clean water and dry them with a clean cloth.When not in use, store parts in a clean, sealable plastic bag or container with a lid.You can also wrap the pieces in a clean paper or cloth towel.Avoid touching the inside of bottles and lids and do not expose the parts to direct sunlight.

Notes

Food dyes can discolor parts, but this has no influence on function.Follow these cleaning instructions unless your healthcare professional tells you otherwise.Do not expose the vacuum to direct sunlight or heat, or leave it in disinfectant ("sterilizing solution") for longer than the recommended period of time, as this could adversely affect the vacuum.
