Mepilex Border Sacrum Ag is a self-adhesive, antimicrobial dressing made of gentle silicone foam.It consists of a Safetac wound contact layer made of soft silicone, an absorbent wound dressing made of polyurethane foam with silver sulfate and activated carbon, a layer of superabsorbent fibers, a non-woven fabric and a breathable and waterproof film.The Safetac technology, developed by Mölnlycke, minimizes pain for the patient and protects the intact skin and the wound.The dressing absorbs exudate, maintains a moist wound environment and has antimicrobial properties.The silver sulfate it contains forms an effective bacterial barrier and inactivates a variety of wound-related pathogens such as bacteria and fungi, which has been proven in vitro.By reducing the number of microorganisms, the formation of odors can also be reduced.Mepilex Border Sacrum Ag has been proven to inactivate wound-related pathogens for up to 7 days.

Scope of application

Mepilex Border Sacrum Ag should be used by or under the supervision of a healthcare professional.Local hygiene procedures must be followed before and after dressing changes.According to standard clinical practice, clean the wound with saline or water and carefully dry the surrounding skin.Choose the appropriate dressing size and ensure that the absorbent dressing covers the wound bed and overlaps the wound edges.Remove the protective films and place the adhesive side on the wound without stretching it.Each dressing can be left on the wound for up to 7 days depending on the patient, wound condition and surrounding skin or according to clinical practice.More frequent switching may be necessary initially as a change in treatment regimen can often result in an initial increase in exudation.Mepilex Border Sacrum Ag is intended for short-term use of up to 4 weeks.Re-evaluation by a physician is recommended for continued use.In the event of a clinical infection, Mepilex Border Ag does not replace the need for systemic or other adequate infection treatment.Interaction with detergents, oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide, and topical treatments has not been demonstrated.Before starting radiotherapy, Mepilex Border Ag must be removed if there is any product in the treatment area.After treatment, a new bandage can be applied.For electronic measurements such as electrocardiograms (ECG) and electroencephalograms (EEG), contact with electrodes or conductive gels should be avoided.

Precautions

Mepilex Border Ag should be stored dry at below 25°C/77°F and protected from direct sunlight.Disposal must be carried out in accordance with local environmental regulations.
