Information for use with the article Panthenol 100 mg Jenapharm tablets: Panthenol 100 mg Jenapharm contains the active substance dexpanthenol and is used in adolescents aged 12 years and over and adults for the supportive treatment of inflammations of the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat and for the treatment of pantothenic acid deficiency states. Pantothenic acid deficiencies that cannot be corrected nutritionally can occur, for example, in chronic dialysis patients, and paraesthesia and pain in the toes and soles of the feet caused by burning-feet syndrome. It is important to note that Panthenol 100 mg Jenapharm contains sucrose (sugar). The dosage of Panthenol 100 mg Jenapharm varies depending on the area of application. For the supportive treatment of inflammation of the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat, three tablets are taken daily, and for the treatment of pantothenic acid deficiency, one tablet is taken daily. The tablets should melt slowly in the mouth or be taken together with sufficient liquid. The duration of use depends on the course of the disease. Panthenol 100 mg Jenapharm must not be used if you are allergic to dexpanthenol or any of the other ingredients of the medicine. There is insufficient information available on the use of Panthenol 100 mg Jenapharm in children under 12 years of age. During pregnancy and breast-feeding, the advice of a doctor or pharmacist should be sought before taking Panthenol 100 mg Jenapharm. The potential risk is not yet sufficiently known. The German Society for Nutrition recommends a daily intake of dexpanthenol of 6 mg during pregnancy and 7 mg during breastfeeding to avoid a pantothenic acid deficiency.
