Colina BTL is a powdered medicine used for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhoea. The active ingredient is smectite (dioctahedral), a purified natural clay mineral. The dosage for children over 2 years of age is 1 sachet 2-4 times daily, for adults 1-2 sachets 3 times daily, regardless of the meal. The powder can be dissolved in water or taken with semi-liquid food. The duration of treatment should not exceed 7 days. Side effects may include constipation, while allergic reactions may rarely occur. The medicine should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, during pregnancy or breastfeeding and in case of certain allergies. It contains glucose and sucrose, so diabetics must be aware of the sugar content. The medicine should be kept out of the reach of children. Interactions with other medicines are possible.
