Lingumelt Acute 2 Mg Lyophilisate Oral is a medicine used for the symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhoea in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over. It contains the active ingredient loperamide hydrochloride and works by reducing bowel movement, stopping acute diarrhoea and counteracting dehydration. The medicine is manufactured as a lyophilisate that melts on the tongue. It is easy to take and has a pleasant minty taste. The recommended dosage for adolescents 12 years and older is 1 lyophilisate as the first dose, followed by 1 lyophilisate after each unformed stool (up to 4 lyophilisates per day). For adults, the initial dose is 2 lyophilisates followed by 1 lyophilisate after each unformed stool (up to 6 lyophilisates per day). Exceeding the maximum recommended daily dose should be avoided. It is important to compensate for fluid loss by drinking more during treatment. Lingumelt Acute 2 Mg Lyophilisate Oral should not be used for longer than 2 days. If symptoms persist or if you are unsure, a doctor should be consulted. The medicine should not be used in case of hypersensitivity to the ingredients, certain intestinal diseases, liver diseases or chronic diarrhoea. It is also not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Side effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, dry mouth, headache, fatigue, dizziness, skin rash and itching.
