Rheumamed Pain Ointment Capsicum is a herbal medicinal product used for the external treatment of muscle pain. It contains cayenne pepper extract as the active ingredient. The ointment is used for painful muscle hardness in the shoulder-arm area as well as in the area of the spine. In acute conditions with redness, swelling or overheating of the joints, persistent joint pain or back pain radiating into the arms and legs and/or accompanied by neurological deficits, a doctor should be consulted. The ointment is applied thinly to the affected areas and used up to 4 times a day. The duration of application should not exceed 3 weeks and a period of 14 days should be observed between applications in the same place. The ointment should be stored at room temperature and has a shelf life of 6 months after opening the tube. Side effects are rare and should be discussed with a doctor or pharmacist. The medicinal product should not be used if there is hypersensitivity to the ingredients or if open injuries, skin inflammations or eczema are present. The medicinal product should not be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding unless the benefits outweigh the risks. Persons under 12 years of age should not normally use the medicinal product. Certain precautions apply, especially in case of allergies to certain foods or other medicines. A doctor or pharmacist should be consulted before using other medicines.
