What is Thealoz Duo?

Thealoz Duo is a medical device used to treat dry, irritated or tired eyes.It is preservative-free and contains no phosphates.The solution consists of 3% trehalose, a natural disaccharide that protects cells, and 0.15% sodium hyaluronate, which retains water and acts as a natural lubricant.The solution is packaged in a patented multi-dose-ABAK-bottle that contains approximately 300 sterile drops and has a shelf life of six months after opening.No prescription is required for this product.

Mode of action

Thealoz Duo is based on an innovative combination of mechanisms of action that are successfully used for dry eyes.The trehalose in Thealoz Duo is a natural ingredient with antioxidant, moisturizing and protective properties.It stabilizes the cell membranes and protects the cornea and conjunctiva from the effects of dryness.The high water-binding power of trehalose forms a moistening and protective film on the cell membranes, which reduces the loss of membrane structure due to dryness.The hyaluronic acid in Thealoz Duo additionally moisturizes the surface of the eye, improves the tear film and extends the duration.It also promotes corneal regeneration and wound healing.By combining trehalose and hyaluronic acid, Thealoz Duo protects and regenerates the surface of the eye.

1 ml Thealoz Duo eye drops contains trehalose (3.0 g), sodium hyaluronate (0.15 g), sodium chloride, trometamol, hydrochloric acid to adjust the pH and water for injection purposes.

Area of application

Thealoz Duo eye drops are used to moisten, lubricate and protect dry eyes.They can be used to treat moderate to severe dry eye symptoms.Because they are well tolerated, they are also suitable for contact lens wearers.

Intake and dosage

Adults, teenagers and children can put one drop of Thealoz Duo in each eye 1 to 4 times a day.The tip of the ABAK-bottle should be held centered over the eye and the bottle should be squeezed to allow a drop to fall.If necessary, the application can also be carried out more frequently, although there should be a gap of at least 15 minutes between two products.Contact lenses should be removed before dripping and not reinserted for at least 15 minutes.

Handling

Before use, you should wash your hands thoroughly and avoid any contact with the drip opening with your fingers or eyes.Twist the cap off the top of the bottle.With one hand, pull your eyelid down and look up.With your other hand, hold the dropper bottle vertically above your eye and press the side of the bottle body to introduce a drop into the conjunctival sac.Due to the ABAK® filter system, it takes a little longer for a drop to appear.Recap the bottle after each use.

Notes

In rare cases, slight eye irritation may occur.Thealoz Duo should be kept out of the reach of children.If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients, the product should not be used.
