Area of application

1 Suppository contains 10 mg bisacodyl as active ingredient.Hard fat is also included as an additional ingredient.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity reactions can occur to all medicines and you must stop taking the medicine immediately.If an allergy to the active ingredient or one of the other ingredients of the medicine is known, it must not be used.The medicine must not be used in cases of intestinal obstruction, acute abdominal pain that requires surgery such as acute appendicitis and children under 2 years of age.The medicine should not be used in acute gastrointestinal diseases and disorders of the water and mineral balance.

Dosage

Children between 2-10 years should receive 1/2 suppository (5 mg bisacodyl).Adults and children over 10 years of age should receive 1 suppository (10 mg bisacodyl).In preparation for operations and examination procedures, use as directed by the doctor.

Intake

The suppositories are used to insert into the rectum.The effect occurs approximately 15-30 minutes after inserting the suppository.

Notes

Laxatives should only be taken for a short time if you are constipated.In general, treatment with bisacodyl is only recommended if long-term measures such as changing your diet (food rich in fiber and swelling substances as well as sufficient fluid intake) and lifestyle (e.g. sufficient physical exercise) cannot be achieved or have not yet achieved sufficient success.Long-term use of the drug often leads to an increase in intestinal constipation.Long-term or high-dose use often leads to increased losses of water, potassium and other salts.This can lead to disturbances in heart function and muscle weakness, especially if you are taking dehydration medicines and adrenal hormones at the same time.In the case of chronic constipation, the cause should be clarified by a doctor.

Other

Like other laxatives, Dulcolax® suppositories should not be used daily or over a longer period of time without a doctor's clarification of the cause of constipation.Application does not contribute to weight loss.The simultaneous use of other laxatives can increase the side effects in the gastrointestinal tract.
