Pancreatan 10.000 is a medicinal product in the form of enteric-coated hard capsules. The active substance, porcine pancreatic powder (pancreatin), contains 10,000 Ph.Eur. units of lipase per capsule. It is used to treat digestive disorders caused by reduced or absent function of the pancreas. Pancreatan contains enzymes extracted from pig pancreases that support digestion. The capsules slowly release the pancreatic powder in the intestine. The dosage depends on the weight, the severity of the disease, the diet and the fat content in the stool. Take during or immediately after a meal or snack. The capsules should be swallowed whole with sufficient liquid. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The medicine must not be used if there is hypersensitivity to the ingredients or acute inflammation of the pancreas. Side effects are rare and the medicine is well tolerated.
