Therapeutic indications

This herbal medicinal product is used to relieve symptoms of respiratory tract colds accompanied by viscous mucus and to improve symptoms of acute bronchitis.No prescription is required for this product.

Active substances and ingredients

The fluid extract contains thyme herb as the active substance at a concentration of 1:2–2.5.Ammonia solution (10%), glycerol (85%), ethanol (90% v/v), and purified water were used as extraction solvents.The preparation also contains 33.5% (v/v) alcohol.

Contraindications

Pulmonest must not be taken in cases of known hypersensitivity to thyme or other Lamiaceae (Labiatae) plants, birch, mugwort, celery, or any of the other ingredients of the medicinal product.Due to its alcohol content, the preparation should only be used by patients with liver disease, epilepsy, or organic brain disorders after consulting a doctor.Due to insufficient data, Pulmonest should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Precautions and warnings

A doctor should be consulted immediately if symptoms persist for more than a week, or in the event of shortness of breath, fever, or purulent or bloody sputum.There is insufficient data regarding use in children under 12 years of age; therefore, Pulmonest should not be used in this age group.

Interactions

No interactions with other medicinal products are known to date.

Dosage instructions

Adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older should take 2–4 ml in a little water 3–4 times daily.Take after or between meals.The duration of treatment depends on the course of the condition and should be determined by a physician.

Side effects

Very rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as shortness of breath, skin rashes, hives, and swelling of the face, mouth, and/or throat may occur.Also very rarely, gastrointestinal complaints such as cramps, nausea, and vomiting may occur.If side effects occur, discontinue use of the product and consult a physician.

Storage instructions

Once the container has been opened, the medicinal product is stable for 6 months and should not be stored above 25°C.Do not use the product after the expiry date stated on the container and outer packaging.
