Directions for use of the medicinal product VENOPLANT RETARD S: Venoplant retard S is a herbal vein remedy used to treat symptoms of diseases of the leg veins (chronic venous insufficiency). This includes symptoms such as pain and a feeling of heaviness in the legs, cramps in the calves at night, itching and swelling of the legs. Before taking Venoplant retard S, patients who are allergic to horse chestnut seeds or any of the other ingredients should not take the medicine. Particular caution should be exercised in the case of inflammation of the skin, superficial phlebitis, hardening of the subcutaneous tissue, severe pain, skin ulcers, sudden swelling of one or both legs and functional impairment of the heart or kidneys. In these cases, a doctor should be consulted. Pregnant and breast-feeding women should not use Venoplant retard S as its safety during pregnancy and breast-feeding has not been adequately studied. The recommended dosage for adults is 1 retard tablet 2 times daily. The tablets should be taken unchewed with some liquid before meals. Long-term treatment is possible after consultation with the doctor. Children and adolescents under 18 years of age should not use this medicine. Possible side effects of Venoplant retard S may include gastrointestinal complaints such as nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Headache VENOPLANT RETARD , dizziness, hypersensitivity reactions of the skin (itching, rash) and severe allergic reactions may also occur. Venoplant retard S should be kept away from heat and out of the reach of children. The expiry date is stated on the pack. Use after the expiry date is not recommended. Venoplant retard S contains as active substance 263.2 mg dry extract of horse chestnut seeds adjusted to 50 mg triterpene glycosides, calculated as anhydrous aescin. Other ingredients include calcium hydrogen phosphate, crospovidone, highly dispersed silicon dioxide, macrogol 4000, magnesium stearate, hypromellose and talc.
