Instructions for use for Pan Ophthalm eye drops (10 ml)
Description
This preparation is a synthetic tear fluid that is used as eye drops. It is used for the symptomatic treatment of drying out of the cornea and conjunctiva. These can arise from tear secretion disorders due to local or systemic underlying diseases as well as insufficient eyelid closure. No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The eye drops contain 50 mg of dexpanthenol as the active ingredient.Excipients include disodium edetate 2-water, disodium hydrogenphosphate 12-water, hypromellose, sodium dihydrogenphosphate 2-water, water for injections, cetrimide and 1.64 mg total phosphate ion.
Contraindications
The eye drops must not be used if you are allergic to dexpanthenol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. For further information please read the instructions for use.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in the leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If you are unsure, please ask your doctor or pharmacist.Unless otherwise prescribed, the recommended dosage is one drop into the conjunctival sac several times a day if necessary.
The duration of treatment depends on the type and course of the disease. There are no known risks associated with overdosing on eye drops. The therapeutic effect is not improved or worsened. If you forget to use an application, do not use a double dose.Continue therapy at the next scheduled time with the same dosage and time interval. If you stop using the medication, the symptoms may recur.
If you have any further questions about using this medicine, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Application
The eye drops are intended for use on the eyes.Take the opened dropper bottle in your hand and pull the lower eyelid down slightly with the index finger of your other hand. With your head tilted back, bring the dropper tip close to the eye without touching it.By gently pressing the bottle, drip a drop into the conjunctival sac.Slowly close your eye and move it back and forth to allow the drop to spread well.
Patient information
Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before using the eye drops. The eye drops contain the preservative cetrimide, which can cause eye irritation (burning, redness, foreign body sensation) and damage the corneal epithelium, especially if used frequently.Particularly sensitive patients who experience these irritations are recommended to switch to preparations without preservatives.
Contact lens wearers should not use the eye drops while wearing the lenses as this could potentially lead to incompatibilities with the lens material. For wearers of soft contact lenses, the incorporation of the preservative into the contact lenses can cause intolerance reactions. All contact lenses should therefore be removed before using the eye drops and can be reinserted about 15 minutes later.
As with all eye drops, temporary blurred vision or other visual impairments may affect the ability to drive or use machines. If blurred vision occurs immediately after instillation, you should not drive or operate machines until the impairment has subsided.
Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.Since it is not known how much dexpanthenol is absorbed into the bloodstream after local application, when using eye drops during pregnancy and breastfeeding, the benefits of use should be carefully weighed against the possible risks.
Notes
For information about risks and side effects, read the package leaflet and ask your doctor or pharmacy.
Other
If you are additionally treated with other eye drops or eye ointments, there should be an interval of at least 15 minutes between the applications of the different medications.Contact lens wearers should remove them before using the medication and only put them back in about 15 minutes afterwards. Even when used as intended, the medicine has a short-term effect on visual performance due to the formation of streaks and thus on the ability to react in traffic and when operating machines.
