Antiscabiosum® 25% emulsion for adults for scabies

Scabies, also known as scabies, was almost eradicated in Germany, but is now becoming increasingly common again.The scabies mite (Sarcoptes scabiei) digs tunnels in the upper layers of the skin.These are visible as fine, curved lines.The female mite lays her eggs in these tunnels and leaves behind feces.The immune system reacts to this with skin reactions such as eczema, redness, blisters, pustules and severe itching.

Antiscabiosum® 25% is a non-prescription medicine for killing mites, larvae and eggs.It is an emulsion containing the active ingredient benzyl benzoate and is used to treat scabies in adults.This agent is considered to be less toxic compared to other sufficiently studied antiscabiosa.

Active ingredients and ingredients

The white emulsion contains the active ingredient benzyl benzoate.In addition, the following excipients are included: emulsifying cetostearyl alcohol (type A), purified water, propylene glycol and sorbitol 70%.No prescription is required for this product.

Area of application

Antiscabiosum® 25% is used to treat scabies in adults.It is an antiparasitic agent that is applied directly to the skin.

Application

Before starting treatment, you should thoroughly cleanse your body.Apply the emulsion from neck to toes in the evening for three consecutive days.Make sure to rub thoroughly, especially the affected areas, fingers, toes, body folds, chest, genitals, belt and buttocks area.On the fourth day, take a full bath or shower and change your bed linen and linen.You should air or iron the previously worn outerwear for four days.

Apply the emulsion once daily for three days.Stop treatment afterward, even if itching persists.A medical follow-up is required to check the success of the treatment.Do not use the medicine for more than three days without medical advice.

Contraindications

Antiscabiosum® 25% must not be used if you are hypersensitive to benzyl benzoate, benzoic acid, benzyl alcohol or any of the other ingredients.The product should also not be used while breastfeeding.Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes and severely irritated skin.

Patient information

Avoid intensive sun exposure and visiting a solarium during use.If symptoms persist after treatment, please consult your doctor.The medicine is not suitable for children under 12 years.There are no sufficient studies for use in children.

Pregnancy

Benzyl benzoate has not been adequately studied in animal studies.There is no experience with use during pregnancy.Therefore, you should only use the medicine during pregnancy if your doctor considers it absolutely necessary.The product should not be used during breastfeeding as there are no data on whether the active ingredient passes into breast milk.

Notes

The medicine is intended exclusively for adults.Make sure it does not come into contact with eyes, mucous membranes and injured skin.If no healing results are seen after use, only use it again after consulting your doctor.Contact persons should be examined to avoid infection.
