Lactulose Heumann Syrup is taken orally and is available in syrup form. The medicine is used to treat constipation that cannot be sufficiently influenced by a high-fibre diet and other general measures. It can also be used for conditions that require easier bowel movements, such as haemorrhoids or operations in the rectum or anal area. In addition, it is used to prevent and treat portocaval encephalopathy, a functional impairment of the brain due to liver disease. There are some important notes and warnings that should be followed before taking Lactulose Heumann Syrup. The medicine should not be taken if you are allergic to lactulose or any of the other ingredients of the medicine. It should also not be taken in case of intestinal obstruction, intestinal perforation, fructose intolerance or mucus sugar intolerance. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking it. The dosage of Lactulose Heumann Syrup varies depending on the area of application. For constipation, the usual dose for adults is 7.5 to 15 ml syrup 1 to 2 times a day. For children, the dose is 4.5 to 9 ml of syrup 1 to 2 times daily. For portocaval encephalopathy, the dose is increased as needed and is based on the number of bowel movements.
