Description of the drug
This medicine is used to support the willingness to sleep.It is used to make it easier to fall asleep if you have insomnia and to promote willingness to sleep.No prescription is required for this product.
Active ingredients and ingredients
The preparation contains 500 mg of L-tryptophan as an active ingredient.The excipients include carboxymethyl starch, sodium salt, cellulose powder, magnesium stearate, silicon dioxide, highly disperse, stearic acid, talc, titanium dioxide and tricalcium bisorthophosphate.
Contraindications
The medicine must not be taken if you are hypersensitive to tryptophan or any of the other ingredients of the preparation.The preparation must also not be used in the case of severe liver dysfunction, a disorder of brain function as a result of chronic liver disease (hepatic encephalopathy), severe kidney disease and disorders of kidney function, a small intestinal carcinoid with heart damage (Hedinger's syndrome), as well as when taking certain medications for depression (monoamine oxidase inhibitors, serotonin reuptake inhibitors) or the appetite suppressant dexfenfluramine.
Dosage
Always take the medicine exactly as your doctor has told you.Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.The usual dose for adults is 2 film-coated tablets daily, equivalent to 1 g of tryptophan.After consulting your doctor, this dose can be increased to up to 4 film-coated tablets, equivalent to 2 g of tryptophan.After 3 to 4 weeks, your doctor should check the need for further treatment.There is no experience with its use in long-term treatment.
If you have taken more than you should, please tell a doctor.Poisoning with tryptophan can only be expected in the event of significant overdoses and manifests itself as vomiting and symptoms of serotonin syndrome.If you forget to take the dose, do not take a double dose, but continue taking it as prescribed.

Intake
Take the film-coated tablets whole with a little liquid 20 to 30 minutes before going to bed.
Patient information
Particular caution is required when taking the drug if you are being treated with phenothiazines, benzodiazepines, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, high blood pressure or dextromethorphan.In these cases you should only take the preparation after consulting your doctor.Eosinophilia-myalgia disorders may occur during treatment with tryptophan-containing medications.If eosinophilia occurs along with muscle and joint pain, cramps or skin changes, you should inform your doctor and stop treatment.
Since there is not yet sufficient experience with use in children and adolescents, this age group is not yet intended for therapy with tryptophan.
Even when used as intended, this medicine can change your ability to react to such an extent that the ability to actively participate in road traffic or operate machines is impaired.This applies to an even greater extent when combined with alcohol.
Pregnancy
You should not take the medicine during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as there is no experience with using the product during this time.In justified cases, your doctor will decide whether use is necessary and possible.
