Contraindications

If you are known to be hypersensitive to any of the ingredients mentioned, the product should not be used.It must also not be used if you are allergic to other proton pump inhibitors (such as pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole, esomeprazole) or if you are taking a medicine containing nelfinavir (used to treat HIV).If you are unsure, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before use.

Dosage

The recommended dose of Omeprazole HEUMANN 20mg for heartburn is one 20mg hard capsule once daily for 14 days.If you do not feel any improvement after this period, please inform your doctor.It can be taken over 2 to 3 consecutive days.It is recommended to take the enteric-coated hard capsules in the morning, either with food or on an empty stomach.Swallow the capsules whole with half a glass of water.Do not chew or crush the capsules as they contain coated pellets that protect the active ingredient from stomach acid.These pellets release the active ingredient into the intestines, where it is absorbed into your body.

Intake

It is recommended to take the capsules in the morning.You can take the capsules with food or on an empty stomach.Swallow the capsules whole with half a glass of water.Do not chew or crush the capsules as they contain coated pellets that prevent the acid from breaking down the medicine in the stomach.It is important that the pellets are not damaged.If you or your child have difficulty swallowing the capsules, you can open the capsule and swallow the contents immediately with half a glass of water, or add the contents to a glass of still water, acidic fruit juice or applesauce.Stir the mixture immediately before drinking and then drink the liquid immediately or within 30 minutes.Rinse the glass carefully with half a glass of water and drink it to make sure you have taken all of the medicine.The solid particles contain the medicine and must not be chewed or crushed.

If you use the medicine for more than three months, it is possible that the levels of magnesium in your blood may decrease.Low magnesium levels can manifest as fatigue, involuntary muscle contractions, confusion, cramps, dizziness and increased heart rate.If you experience any of these symptoms, tell your doctor immediately.Low magnesium levels can also lead to a reduction in potassium and calcium levels in the blood.Your doctor may want to do regular blood tests to check your magnesium levels.Taking proton pump inhibitors such as omeprazole may slightly increase your risk of hip, wrist, and spine fractures, especially if taken for more than a year.Tell your doctor if you have osteoporosis or if you are taking corticosteroids (these may increase the risk of osteoporosis).The medicine is unlikely to affect your ability to drive a car or use tools or machines.Side effects such as dizziness and blurred vision may occur.You should not drive or use machines if you are impaired.
