Hepagallin N is a herbal medicine that is used for digestive disorders, especially functional disorders of the biliary system.It is suitable for adults and children over 12 years old.

Active ingredients and ingredients

Each coated tablet contains 220 mg of dry extract of artichoke leaves, the extractant being water.In addition, the preparation contains various excipients such as Arabic gum, calcium carbonate, carboxymethyl starch sodium, cellulose powder, Eudragit E 100, glucose syrup, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, montan glycol wax, povidone, sucrose, highly disperse silicon dioxide, stearic acid, talc, titanium dioxide and tragacanth.One tablet also contains 0.03 bread units (BE) of total carbohydrates.

Application and dosage

The usual dosage is two coated tablets three times a day, which should be taken after meals with sufficient liquid.In the event of an overdose or forgetting to take the next dose, the next dose should be taken as usual without doubling the dose.

Side effects

Very rarely, mild diarrhea, abdominal cramps, upper abdominal discomfort, nausea, heartburn or hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rashes can occur.If such symptoms occur, a doctor should be consulted.

Contraindications and precautions

Hepagallin N must not be used if there is known hypersensitivity to artichokes, other daisy plants or any of the other ingredients of the drug or if the bile ducts are blocked.If you have gallstones, the medicine should only be used after consulting a doctor.The medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding or in children under 12 years of age, as there are no sufficient studies on this.

Interactions

Hepagallin N may reduce the effectiveness of coumarin-type anticoagulants (such as phenprocoumon or warfarin).Patients taking such medications should consult their doctor.

Storage

The medicine should be stored at a temperature not exceeding 25°C and kept out of the reach of children.It should not be used after the expiry date stated on the packaging.After opening, the medicine must be used within 60 days.
