Product features

The Inadine wound dressing is made from a non-adhesive, woven cellulose acetate and is impregnated with polyethylene glycol containing 10% povidone-iodine.This corresponds to 1.0% available iodine.Iodine is a highly effective topical antimicrobial that has been used in wound care for over 170 years.It is effective against bacteria, microbacteria, fungi, protozoa and viruses.

The povidone-iodine molecule offers broad spectrum antimicrobial activity and has been proven to be effective against MRSA.The wound dressing minimizes adhesion to the wound bed and reduces the risk of damage to granulation tissue during dressing changes.This reduces pain for the patient.When povidone-iodine is released, the color of the wound dressing changes from orange to white.This color change serves as an indicator for the time to change, which can avoid unnecessary dressing changes.

Indications

Inadine is indicated for chronic ulcerations and can also be used for infection prophylaxis in minor burns and superficial injuries with skin loss.Clinical studies suggest that Inadine is also suitable for the treatment of chronic wounds, including ulcers of various etiologies, diabetic foot ulcers and pressure ulcers.The wound dressing can be used as a primary dressing or in combination with other wound dressings.

Application

First, the wound is prepared according to the wound care protocol and ensures that the skin areas around the wound are dry.The packaging of the Inadine wound dressing is opened and the dressing is removed with sterile forceps.The first protective paper is removed and the wound dressing is freed from the remaining protective paper and placed directly on the wound.It is then covered and secured with a covering bandage.

For optimal wound care, trauma to the uninjured skin should be avoided.If the Inadine wound dressing turns white, this indicates that the antiseptic effect is decreasing and the dressing must be changed.In the initial phase or in heavily infected or heavily exuding wounds, a change up to twice a day may be necessary.Removing the wound dressing is often easier if it is carefully pulled from diagonally opposite corners.

Ingredients

The Inadine wound dressing is made of barely adhesive viscose fabric, coated with a wound ointment containing polyethylene glycol (PEG), demineralized water and 10% povidone-iodine (PVP-I).

Notes

The Inadine wound dressing should only be used under medical supervision on newborns and babies up to 6 months of age, as povidone-iodine itself could be absorbed through uninjured skin.Medical supervision is also required when treating deep ulcerating wounds, burns or extensive injuries.Use for more than a week should also be done under medical supervision.The wound dressing must not be reused as this may lead to infection or cross-contamination.
