UrgoSorb is a sterile wound dressing consisting of calcium alginate and hydrocolloid particles.These natural polymers are known for their strong absorbency.The wound dressing promotes wound healing by forming a gel in contact with the wound exudate.UrgoSorb can be easily removed in one piece, even when wet, without causing pain.

No prescription is required for this product.

The product is a medical device.Please read the instructions in the package insert carefully and familiarize yourself with the functions and usage before use.

Application instructions

Wound preparation: Clean the wound with physiological saline solution.After using antibiotics, corticosteroids, or antiseptic alkaline solutions, irrigate the wound with physiological saline.Dry the wound area with a sterile compress.

Applying the wound dressing: Apply UrgoSorb directly to the wound.For lower leg ulcers with moderate to weak exudation, the compress should be moistened with physiological saline solution before being placed on the wound.Secure UrgoSorb with an additional bandage, e.g. with compresses and a fixing bandage, to avoid slipping.In the event of a pressure ulcer in the sacral area or incontinence, cover UrgoSorb with a thin hydrocolloid wound dressing.Dispose of remaining dressing material according to local disposal procedures and guidelines.

Changing the dressing: Change the UrgoSorb wound dressing when the maximum absorbency is exhausted.The frequency of dressing changes depends on the wound and varies between once a day when cleaning the wound from fibrinous-necrotic deposits as well as for heavily exuding or infected wounds and every other day for less exuding wounds.

Removing the wound dressing: Remove the secondary dressing and then peel off UrgoSorb.For lower leg ulcers, UrgoSorb can be moistened with physiological saline beforehand to make removal easier.Renew the UrgoSorb wound dressing as described above.

Application of the UrgoSorb tamponade: Loosely line cavitary and deep wounds (open pressure ulcers) with UrgoSorb tamponade without applying excessive pressure.During gel formation, the UrgoSorb tamponade adapts to the shape of the wound.The UrgoSorb tamponade can be easily removed from the wound in one piece.Make sure the packing is completely removed from the wound.Like the UrgoSorb compress, fix the tamponade with a secondary bandage.

Indications

Wound healing: UrgoSorb is suitable for the local treatment of moderately to heavily exuding wounds in the cleaning and granulation phase, especially in post-surgical wounds such as amputation wounds and abscess wounds as well as in chronic wounds such as decubitus ulcers and leg ulcers.UrgoSorb can also be used to treat wounds showing clinical signs of infection, provided appropriate medical supervision is provided.The wound dressing is also indicated for hemorrhagic wounds.UrgoSorb tamponade is intended for the local treatment of wound cavities such as deep wounds, fissured wounds and coccygeal fistulas.

Hemostasis: UrgoSorb is a wound dressing that promotes the primary hemostasis of bleeding traumatic and chronic wounds by activating blood platelets.UrgoSorb tamponade is intended for the local treatment of deep bleeding wounds.

Contraindications

Endonasal packing during sinus operations, dry, necrotic wounds, deep burns, third degree burns, slightly exuding wounds and known hypersensitivity to the wound dressing.

Precautions

UrgoSorb is non-absorbable and must not be used as a surgical implantable compress.The wound dressing must not be used together with antiseptic, alkaline solutions.If these have been used, the wound should definitely be rinsed with sterile physiological saline solution before using UrgoSorb compresses or tamponades.The sterile individual packaging is intended for single use only.Reusing a single-use wound dressing can cause infection risks.Check the integrity of the sterile individual packaging.Do not use if damaged.Do not re-sterilize.
