Bekunis Dragees Bisacodyl 5mg are a proven laxative for short-term use in constipation, in diseases that require easier bowel emptying, as well as for bowel emptying before diagnostic and therapeutic interventions on the bowel. The effect is based on the active ingredient bisacodyl. It is recommended to take the lozenges in the evening before going to bed or in the morning on an empty stomach with sufficient liquid. The bowel empties within 6-10 hours. Bisacodyl must not be used in children under 2 years of age. Children up to the age of 10 years with chronic constipation should only be treated on medical advice. The recommended dosage for adults and children over 10 years of age is 1-2 enteric-coated tablets (5-10 mg) daily before bedtime. For children aged 2-10 years, one enteric-coated tablet (5 mg) daily before bedtime is recommended. Side effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort such as abdominal pain or flatulence. Bekunis Dragees Bisacodyl should only be used for a short time without a doctor's instructions. In case of chronic constipation, a doctor should be consulted.
