Loperamid Stada Akut 2 mg Hartkapseln is a medicine used to treat acute diarrhoea in adults and adolescents aged 12 and over when no other treatment option is available. It contains the active substance loperamide hydrochloride and may only be used under a doctor's prescription and observation for a period of more than 2 days. Loperamid Stada Akut 2 mg hard capsules should be taken unchewed with some liquid. The recommended dosage varies according to age and for adults is initially 2 capsules (corresponding to 4 mg loperamide hydrochloride) and then 1 capsule (corresponding to 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride) after each unformed stool, with a maximum daily dose of 6 capsules (corresponding to 12 mg loperamide hydrochloride). Children under 12 years of age should use other dosage forms. The duration of treatment should not exceed 2 days, otherwise a doctor should be consulted. In case of overdose, you should consult a doctor immediately. There are several side effects such as gastrointestinal discomfort, dry mouth, headache and dizziness that may occur but not in every patient. Pregnant women should not use the drug unless absolutely necessary and breastfeeding women should avoid it. People with certain conditions, such as hypersensitivity to the ingredients, constipation, advanced ulcerative colitis and certain liver diseases, should also not take the medicine.
