Macrogol AL powder for oral solution is a laxative for the treatment of chronic constipation in adults, children over 12 years and elderly patients. It helps with unproblematic bowel activity, even in very severe constipation. It is recommended to take 1 sachet of the powder 1-3 times a day, regardless of meals. The solution is drunk after dissolving or disintegrating the powder in water. The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor, but should normally not exceed 2 weeks. If an overdose is suspected or if it is forgotten, a doctor should be consulted. Important notes are the warning against high sodium content and the possibility of side effects such as swelling, shortness of breath, tiredness, dehydration and heart problems. Children under 12 years of age should not take the medicine. Before taking it, possible allergies and certain diseases such as intestinal perforation or bowel disease should be ruled out.
